See the ‘HD’ version for smoother playback and high resolution viewing) This is a model of a house that I built (in real life) a number of years ago. I wanted to see if I could rebuild it with what plans, photos and memories that I still have. I built the deck model years ago using Ray Dream Designer and Virtus Walkthrough (neither program is around anymore) to visualize what the deck would look like before I built it (in real life) as an addition to the house. I built the deck model to scale and it imported (.dxf) nicely into SketchUp after all these years. That was the starting point of this recent modeling project. I did the time lapse sequence at the end to showcase SketchUps ability to set time and date for determining location of shadows. I also used its watermark (picture overlay) capability to see if I could line up the angle and lens settings of the camera snapshots that I had taken back in the day. I think it worked well. Incidentally, I also composed and produced the accompanying soundtrack over an excellent beat by Zajo called “loop39.wav” from Freesound (www.freesound.org) used under a Creative Commons sampling license.

Designed & built by Austins premier ultra-high end custom home builder, Gary Cutsinger of KC Homes, this home has fine details for the buyer with the most discriminating tastes. Views are absolutely beyond mesmerizing. It overlooks the River Place golf course to the hill country for as far as the eyes can see. Country club living at its best. With the house finally built Tommy has time to reflect on the past events. It was undoubtedly one of the toughest challenges he has ever had to face as a television presenter or a builder. Finished Eco house – Television Production We chose the summer of 2007 to shoot the series which turned out to be the worst summer for 50 years! Delays because of bad weather, late delivery of building materials and other factors all added to the pressure that is commonplace in TV production. Early tests have shown that the running costs of the house will be approximately £250 per year! It was quite a journey for Tommy, his build team and all of the production staff at Free Spirit. The ten part series was produced and delivered to Discovery TV on time and on budget and we are all immensely proud of what we have achieved. We hope it inspires and entertains viewers for many years to come. Tommy Walsh’s Eco House is a 10 part series produced by Free Spirit and commissioned by Discovery Real Time (Sky channel 240). I’ve started speeding up the vids by 600-800x instead of 400x cos no one wants to watch 50 mins of some guy building houses. So from now on they will be faster, which means, some details maybe too quick to follow and when I rotate the camera you may get dizzy. So I warn you all now! Unlike my other houses, I had no initial plans or ideas before starting so from the get go I literally had to build off of nothing. So as you can tell I’ve started to dabble with the more modern house design trends, ie. the feautre running from on top of the house, which I took from my final Sims 2 house. The pool is split level, and “connected” but hidden by the plants cos it looked weird without them. Not many people guessed except junkiddo, but the feature for this house is the guest house, which I took the general design from the guest house in The OC I forgot to make room for the indoor garden so I’ll have to play around to make it work. The bridge I threw in, there wasn’t much thought out into it. I’ll upload the next part sometime today. I’ll continue the hosue later tonight.
